Christian Education / Youth Programs

Welcome!  We are grateful for the opportunity to join with you in the Christian education of your child/children.  For our part, we will be here ready to teach, to sing, to challenge, to laugh, to play, to pray, to help the young ones of our community come to know God through Christ in a personal and meaningful way.  Our hour together with the children each Sunday is a privilege and one we hold dear.

Nursery and Toddler Care: a place where the very youngest among us begin to feel the warmth and love of being in church school.  Infants and toddlers through age three are encouraged through play and story time to feel that they are loved and cared for by the church family and by God.

Pre-K: Here children four and five years old who are not yet in Kindergarten learn through play, story, song, and crafts of God’s great love for them through Jesus.  Parental involvement is welcome and encouraged.

EXPLORING FAITH for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Children meet as a large group for worship, prayer, singing, offering and the week's Bible story.  Children are then dismissed to their individual classes to explore the story further through activities, crafts, games and projects.

'Tweens in Transition - 6th grade - an extension of Exploring Faith designed especially for 6th graders, exploring the Bible and applying it to their world.

MEDIA AND MEANING for 7th and 8th graders, youth learn through questioning issues facing them in the world as depicted in films.  Discussion and out-of-class activities are included.

Choirs for Children of all Ages:  Under the direction of Christian Education Music Directors Lori Tomko and Kathy Noyes, three different choir opportunities are available for children.

  • Junior Choir is available for children in Kindergarten through third grade. Practice is directly after church school for a half-hour.  Children will have their own coffee hour snacks in their practice areas.  Middle Choir is for children in 4th through 6th grade and will utilize various performance arts techniques including sign language, skits, instruments and more.

  • Teen Choir is for students in 7th through 8th grades.  This choir will sing gospel and contemporary Christian music.

  • The choirs will participate in morning worship and in the children’s worship on selected Sundays throughout the year.

Other Opportunities for Children and Youth:

BIBLE EXPLORERS FOR THIRD GRADERS  Children in third grade are invited to participate in a special Bible class designed just for them.  Bible Explorers meet after school on Mondays, from 3:30 to 4:30.  Our goal is to bring each child to an understanding of how the Bible is organized and how to use the Bible as a resource in their lives using games, crafts, worship and computers.

CONFIRMATION Confirmation for ninth graders begins with an evening retreat in early January with classes meeting each Sunday from 11:30am to 1:00pm.  See Rae for more information.

YOUTH MINISTRY Youth groups are a time for fun, fellowship, faith building and outreach to others.  Games, crafts and service projects keep the groups active and growing in their relationships with one another and with the church community.

WEDNESDAY’S PALS, a youth group for children in 4th grade meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 2:50 to 3:50.  Our Bible Study focus will be “Who?” and our mission focus will be children in need.

MID-WEEK PEAK, a youth group for children in 5th and 6th grades meets the second and fourth Wednesdays from 2:50 to 3:50pm.  The Bible Study focus is “Who, 2?” and our mission focus is church shut-ins.

JUNIOR HIGH FELLOWSHIP, a youth group for young people in 7th and 8th grades meets every Sunday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Our Bible Study is “What?” and the mission focus is the Food Pantry.

SENIOR HIGH FELLOWSHIP is a youth group for high school aged youth. Meetings are every Sunday from 7:15 to 8:45.  Bible Study centers on “So What?” and our mission outreach culminates in a week-long mission trip in June through YouthWorks!
