Food Pantry

First Church partners with Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries (SSKP), serving as both a grocery distribution site and heat-and-eat kitchen.   Grocery distribution is on Tuesdays from 3-5pm.

For information about the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries call the main office number, 860-388-1988, or the pantry number 860-395-6686 or visit their website, SSKP offers food and fellowship to the communities of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, East Lyme, Essex, Killingworth, Lyme, Madison, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook.  Home-style meals are served each day at one of the SSKP family oriented meal sites.   SSKP has five grocery distribution sites where participants receive enough food for three meals for three days.   Also provided to those who have limited cooking facilities are frozen heat-n-eat meals that can be picked up at any of the SSKP pantries.

SSKP provides those in need with food and with fellowship, responding to all with humanity and respect, accomplishing its goals with the help of over 800 volunteers.  It is an interfaith ministry, with all locations hosted by faith communities.

More of your neighbors may be hungry than you realize. Based on a recent study by Feeding America, in Middlesex County 10.6% of people are at risk for hunger.  Among children, the number rises to 15.3%.  Families of four or more make up over 46% of our guests, and 35% of those who need food are children.
